VDOT News - Culpeper

CULPEPER — Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation fought brutally cold temperatures, sleet and freezing rain overnight as they cleared interstates and other primary roads. Interstate 64 in Albemarle and Louisa County and I-66 in Fauquier County are both clear but wet. 

VDOT crews are now focusing on secondary roads and neighborhood streets, and operations still call for all hands on deck.  Warmer temperatures Monday afternoon will help with the clean-up. Crews will continue working until all state-maintained roads have been plowed and are passable.

Drivers should still use caution.  Secondary road conditions in the Culpeper District range from minor to moderate, which means they are passable, but could be icy and wet in areas. Bridges, overpasses, ramps and crossovers could prove especially dicey.  As the sun sets and the temperatures drop, VDOT expects a refreeze which could affect the Tuesday morning commute.  Please allow extra time for your travels.
