VDOT News - Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is beginning road resurfacing work next week to improve the ride on several major routes in the Town of Urbanna in Middlesex County.

Roads to be resurfaced include Route 227, Route 602 (Old Virginia Street), and Route 1017 (Upton Lane).

Work will be underway overnight. Starting on Sunday, May 31, motorists can expect to encounter brief delays and single-lane closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Sunday to Thursday evenings.

Crews will begin by milling out the existing pavement and then applying fresh asphalt.

Travelers may encounter a rough driving surface in the work zone during the milling phase of the project.

Work is expected to be complete by mid-June, weather permitting.

The project contractor is Lee Hy Paving Corporation.
