NEW BARRICKS MILL ROAD BRIDGE OPENS IN MIDDLESEX
VDOT state forces replaced a structurally deficient bridge

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 625 (Barricks Mill Road) in Middlesex County reopened to traffic today after Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews opened a new bridge over Barrick's Pond.

The new bridge is a 40-foot long concrete slab structure, and replaced a 22-foot long timber bridge that was classified as structurally deficient. New pavement was installed at the bridge's approaches.

Barricks Mill Road traffic followed a three-mile detour during construction, which started in June 2021. Around 420 vehicles travel on Barricks Mill Road daily.

The project was accomplished using VDOT's state forces bridge crew.
