CSX RAIL REPAIR WORK TO CLOSE TWO ROADS IN CAROLINE COUNTY
Route 656 (Colemans Mill Road) will be closed to through traffic March 20-21; Route 601 (Penola Road) will be closed to through traffic March 22-23
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Upcoming CSX railroad maintenance work will require Route 656 (Colemans Mill Road) and Route 601 (Penola Road) in Caroline County to temporarily close at rail crossings next week.
Both roads will be closed to through traffic over two consecutive days, with a posted detour.
CSX will install new timber to improve the road crossings of the railroad tracks.
Travelers can find real-time updates on each road's status on 511Virginia.
Weather permitting, work has been scheduled on the following dates:
Monday, March 20 – Tuesday, March 21
Colemans Mill Road will be closed to through traffic at the railroad crossing located between Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard) and Route 656 (Dry Bridge Road).
Signs will be posted to guide motorists along the recommended detour.
Wednesday, March 22 – Thursday, March 23
Route 601 (Penola Road) will be closed to through traffic at the railroad crossing between Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard) and Route 2/Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike).
Signs will be posted to guide motorists along the recommended detour:
- Route 654 (Moore's Mill Road)
- Route 655 (McBryant Road)
- Route 656/Route 684 (Dry Bridge Road)
- Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard)
Friday, March 24 will be reserved for potential weather delays.
