Overnight Ramp Closures and Traffic Stoppages at I-66/Route 28 Interchange Next Week
FAIRFAX – The ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North will close during the overnight hours Monday, Dec. 30, Friday, Jan. 3, and Saturday, Jan. 4, for guardrail repair and overhead work on new bridges. Additionally, two lanes will be closed on northbound Route 28 between Route 29 and I-66 on Friday, Jan. 3, and Saturday, Jan. 4, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Monday, Dec. 30
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
- The ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North is scheduled to be closed Monday, Dec. 30, from midnight to 4 a.m. for guardrail repairs. Drivers will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
Friday, Jan. 3, and Saturday, Jan. 4

Route 28 North between Route 29 and I-66
- The ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North is scheduled to be closed during the overnight hours of Friday, Jan. 3, and Saturday, Jan. 4, from midnight to 4 a.m. for crews to perform overhead bridge work. Drivers will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
- Two lanes will be closed on northbound Route 28 from Route 29 to I-66 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes on northbound Route 28 between midnight and 4 a.m.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
