Overnight Ramp Closures Next Week on I-66 West at I-495 and Route 123 Interchanges
FAIRFAX – Overnight closures are scheduled to occur on the ramp from the northbound I-495 Express Lanes to I-66 West nightly Sunday, August 11, through Saturday, August 17. Crews will be constructing center bridge supports for the new Gallows Road overpass next to the Dunn Loring Metro Station.
The ramp from I-66 West to Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) North and South will also be closed so that a temporary traffic pattern change can be implemented on the ramp from I-66 West to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North during the overnight hours of Tuesday, August 13.
Details include:
Sunday, August 11, through Saturday, August 17: Ramp from I-495 Express Lanes North to I-66 West
- Nightly temporary closures of the ramp from the northbound I-495 Express Lanes to I-66 West from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 East, exit to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, make a left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right to follow signs to I-66 West.
Tuesday, August 13: Ramp from I-66 West to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South
- Temporary closure of the ramp from I-66 West to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South from midnight to 4 a.m. while crews finalize the ramp to handle traffic. During the closure, traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 50 East. Stay to the left and follow signs to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North.
- When the traffic flow changeover is complete, drivers will access Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North by turning right at a temporary traffic light using two new right-turn-only lanes and a new roadway to join northbound traffic.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
