Overnight Lane Closures, Traffic Stoppages on I-66 West in Vienna Next Week for Continued Cedar Lane Bridge Beam Installation
FAIRFAX – I-66 West in Vienna will have reduced travel lanes and multiple stoppages of up to 20 minutes during overnight hours Tuesday, September 8, through Friday, September 11, as bridge beam installation over I-66 West continues for the new Cedar Lane Bridge. Work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area during these times and should consider using alternate routes.

Tuesday, September 8, through Friday, September 11
I-66 West between Gallows Road and Cedar Lane in Vienna
- I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Cedar Lane in Vienna Tuesday, September 8, through Thursday, September 10, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, and Friday, September 11, from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Drivers should expect slowdowns and periodic traffic stoppages of up to 20 minutes nightly Tuesday, September 8, from 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 9, and Thursday, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., and Friday, September 11, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for crews to lift bridge beams into place.
- All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. (7 a.m. Saturday morning)
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

Beams for the new Cedar Lane Bridge have been installed over I-66 East and Metrorail’s Orange Line. Remaining beams will span I-66 West and connect into the north bridge abutment. (Sept. 4)
