Overnight Lane Closures Planned on I-66 East in Vienna Next Week, January 31-February 5, for Continued Overhead Bridge Work
FAIRFAX – I-66 East approaching Cedar Lane in Vienna will be reduced to a single travel lane during the overnight hours next week, Monday, January 31, through Saturday, February 5, for continued overhead bridge work, installation of bridge beams for a new access ramp to the future I-66 Express Lanes, and demolition of the remaining pier from the old Gallows Road Bridge over I-66. Eastbound I-66 traffic will run in a single lane and be diverted behind barrier to the old general-purpose lanes nightly during this time. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Drivers traveling on I-66 these nights should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

Monday, January 31, through Saturday, February 5
I-66 East from east of Cedar Lane to Gallows Road
- I-66 East will be reduced to a single travel lane nightly Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- All eastbound traffic will be directed into a single travel lane and diverted behind barrier onto the old eastbound general-purpose lanes.
- On Tuesday night, two lanes will be closed and eastbound traffic will remain in the travel lanes.
- All lanes on I-66 East will reopen by 5 a.m. weekdays, and by 6 a.m. weekends.
