Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges August 19-29 For the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
Includes overnight closures this weekend and a weekend-long closure next weekend

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Friday, August 19, through Sunday, August 21 
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 South
The ramp will be closed Friday night from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.; Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.; and Sunday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving and a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured to I-495 North, travel to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, then stay to the right to I-495 South.

Monday night, August 22
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South 
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for light pole installation. Drivers will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North Gainesville, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East and follow signs to Route 234 Business.

Monday night, August 22, and Tuesday night, August 23
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North. 

Monday, August 22; Thursday, August 25; and Friday, August 26
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 29 Centreville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South.

Monday night, August 22
Ramps from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South to I-66 East
The ramps will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift and utility work. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West, to Route 50 East, then stay to the left and follow signs to I-66 East.

 

Monday night, August 22, through Friday night, August 26
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work and a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.

Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work and a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.

Monday night, August 22
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for sign work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South.

Wednesday night, August 24, and Thursday night, August 25
Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West   
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured farther south to the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, stay to the right following signs to I-495 North and I-66, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Tuesday night, August 23, through Thursday night, August 25 
Ramps from I-66 West to Route 123 North and South
The ramps will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Drivers will be detoured farther west to Route 50 East, stay to the left to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 123 North or South.

 

Friday night, August 26, though Monday morning, August 29
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed continuously from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday for ramp work and a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 123 North, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 50 West. 

Friday night, August 26
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 West.
