I-395 Southbound Nighttime Lane Closures in Shirlington Nov. 18
Traffic shift as part of Shirlington Circle south rotary bridge project

SHIRLINGTON – Closures of multiple lanes will occur, weather permitting, along southbound I-395 at Shirlington Circle Saturday night, Nov. 18 to implement a traffic shift, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The lane closures (at least one lane will be open at all times) along the southbound I-395 general purpose lanes at the Shirlington Circle south rotary bridge (located between the Shirlington and Seminary Road Express Lanes exits) will take place between 11 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19 in order to temporarily shift the lanes to the right.

The shift is part of the project to rehabilitate the Shirlington Circle south rotary bridge over I-395. The project, which will improve safety for drivers and extend the overall life of the bridge, is scheduled for completion in mid-2025.

Visit the VDOT project page for more details.

Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling in active work zones. Be alert to new traffic patterns and limit distractions.
