Southbound Monument Drive Over I-66 to be Reduced to a Single Lane During the Daytime and Overnight Hours Next Week, July 5-9, for Bridge Work

FAIRFAX – The southbound side of Monument Drive over I-66 in Fairfax will be reduced to a single travel lane continuously during both daytime and overnight hours next week beginning on or about Wednesday morning, July 5, through Sunday afternoon, July 9, for bridge joint repair and median construction. The right turn lane to access the westbound 66 Express Lanes will remain open during this time. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers traveling on Monument Drive next week should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur. Additional lane closures and temporary turn restrictions are planned on Monument Drive following this work.

Details include:

Wednesday, July 5, through Sunday, July 9
Monument Drive South over I-66

  • One lane will remain closed continuously throughout the week beginning around 9 a.m. Wednesday through 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
  • All southbound Monument Drive traffic will travel in a single lane.
