I-81 NORTHBOUND LANE CLOSURES FOR PAVING IN AUGUSTA COUNTY STARTING MAY 26

STAUNTON – Alternating lane closures are scheduled during overnight hours along a roughly 10-mile stretch of Interstate 81 northbound in Augusta County. The lane closures are for milling and paving operations Monday through Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning May 26, 2020.

The work takes place on I-81 northbound between mile marker 209 and 219, and will occasionally require on- and off-ramp closures at exit 213 (Greenville) and exit 217 (Mint Spring/Stuarts Draft). Variable message boards will advise motorists of detour routes during these ramp closures.

On February 27, 2020, the Virginia Department of Transportation awarded a $3,790,858.91 paving contract to B&S of Contracting Inc. of Staunton, Virginia. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2020. All work is weather permitting.
